Aleš Briscein

Aleš Briscein is a permanent guest of the National Theatre Opera and the State Opera in Prague. He originally studied clarinet and saxophone and later opera singing at the Prague Conservatory. He began his singing career as Tamino in Die Zauberflöte by Mozart at the State Opera in Prague. He then played many other roles: Pang (G. Puccini – Turandot), Jarek in The Devil’s Wall by B. Smetana, Ferrando in Così fan tutte by W. A. Mozart, Almaviva in The Barber of Seville by G. Rossini, Vanya Kudrjash in Janáček‘s Káťa Kabanová, Jeník in Smetana’s Bartered Bride. The tenor Aleš Briscein works with prominent musical ensembles, for example with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Thüringer Philharmonie and the Virtuosi di Praga chorus, as well as with the Czech Television and Czech Radio. In October, 2004, he began his long-term collaboration with the Opéra national de Paris, where he introduced himself as Jeník in the latest interpretation of Smetana’s Bartered Bride.
