Jacques Offenbach
Operetta
Premiere 15. 2. 2013
Very few works of a genre as popular as the operetta may pride themselves with such an immortal evergreen as is found in this masterpiece. Based on the libretto by Hector Cremieux and Ludovico Halévy, it was staged by the composer in Paris as early as 1858.
Yes, not only the cancan - a dance that conquered the world, but literally a display of other gorgeous melodies. And, last but not least, also an ironical mirror elegantly set to the society, a mirror that exceeds not only the framework of the ancient drama, but also the time in which Offenbach’s operetta was composed. Therefore, we invite you again to an opulent feast of “gods” at the table of Olympus, embellished with seducing tones, beautiful singing and accompanied with witty words.
