The world of Imperial Austria and China comes to life again in the famous operetta, the story of which takes place in Vienna and Peking around the year 1910. A wide range of beautiful melodies crowned by the confession “Dein ist mein ganzes Herz” (You are my heart’s delight), enchanting still today, evokes a sophisticated oriental atmosphere, full of infinite longing for love. For the main character, the Viennese countess Lisa, this is so, however, only up to the moment that she finds out that her spouse, the Chinese successor to the throne, has to accept, in accordance with an ancient ritual, four more Chinese wives into the family…
